Le Seminyak - Cipete

This cozy restaurant occupies the former place of Sate Tomang, one of the early pioneers of restaurant in Cipete Raya. Located close to my house, I passed by Le Seminyak almost every day and saw the promotion of 20% discount on its early opening months. So i was tempted to try.

Le Seminyak offers Balinese and Indonesian cuisines with a modern, cozy, yet expensive ambiance.

That night I was so hungry! So me and my friend ordered rice with several side dishes to share.
First side dish is Rendang Bali. I was curious about the Balinese version of rendang and it turned out delicious. It tastes a bit different compared to Padangnese rendang, with an extra hint of star anise. The portion is quite generous for 60-ish K Rupiah. Like it!

Second side dish is Plecing Kangkung. The plecing kangkung tastes ordinary for me. I prefer Lombok version of plecing kangkung which can be found in any Ayam Taliwang restaurants. 

Third side dish is Cumi Bakar/Grilled Squid. The seasoning is OK and it's cooked perfectly. The downfall is that the squid is sliced too thinly, which i dont really like. I prefer to eat thick slices of squid where i can still enjoy the chewy texture of it.


The last dish is the star of the night, Sate Lilit. It tastes delicious, thick, juicy and the meat is very tender. Definitely a must try in Le Seminyak.

One thing that turns me off here is that we have to pay extra for the Sambals. I love to eat Balinese dish with lots of Sambal Matah. Here we have to pay more than 10K for a portion of sambal, and the portion doesnt meet my expectation. I wish they can include the Sambal Matah for free.

To conclude, Le Seminyak is quite a nice place to dine out especially with family or to treat special guests. Love the ambiance but the food is not entirely worth the price. Maybe I'll be back to try their other dishes when they have other promos.
